Dark Angel

Dark Angel originally formed in 1981 in Downey, California (outside Los Angeles), around the time the San Fransisco thrash movement began to blossom. Their distinctive, over-the-top sound - always a beat faster than their contemporaries, with lengthy songs punctuated by extended instrumentalizations - earned them the nickname "L.A. Caffeine Machine".  Throughout the 1980's and early 1990's Dark Angel released four full length albums and toured extensively, gaining noteriety in a thrash scene that was quickly growing in popularity.


Hailing from the chaos ridden land of Bangladesh, ORATOR is a Death/Thrash metal band in the vein of Master, old Sepultura, Merciless and many more. Orator so far has released an EP, a demo tape and a full length. Now signed with Pulverised Records, Orator is working on the sophomore release. Orator spreads nothing but deathrashing madness of nothingness or non-existence inspired by their the inauspicious mad Aghoris. The trio will be performing at the Maryland Death Fest in Baltimore, Maryland next year to show their aghoratorical rage!

Ratos de Porao

Ratos de Porão, or simply RxDxPx, was formed in 1981, existing in the Brazilian (São Paulo city) punk rock scene . Directly influenced by the UK 82 hardcore bands such as Discharge, G.B.H., Varukers and Swedish and Finnish bands such as Anti-Cimex and Kaaos, they started to write songs that criticized Brazilian society, a revolutionary concept at the time. Their sound is regarded as one of rawest of their scene.  Ratos de Porão will be making their first appearance at Maryland Deathfest in 2014.

Final Conflict

Founded by Jeff Harp in 1983 Final Conflict has been a long standing staple of LA underground scene as well as being one of the first wave of “crossover” bands who mixed metal with hardcore punk. Much time has passed, members come and go but the love for the music has never ceased. Jeff has remained the foundation of the band, never waning in his devotion to Final Conflict and it's music.

Death Toll 80k

Death Toll 80k are a crossover grindcore band from Lappeenranta, Finland.  Formed in 2008, their sound blends elements of grindcore with crust punk, death metal, and thrash metal, while incorporating lyrical themes that address issues such as war, the environment, and other social issues.  Death Toll 80k will be bringing their unique brand of grindcore across the pond to make an appearance at Maryland Deathfest in 2014.


Sacrifice are a thrash metal band formed in 1983 in Toronto, Canada.  Sacrifice were considered an important part of the 1980's Toronto underground metal scene, until the group split in 1993 after releasing 4 successful studio albums.  They reunited in 2006 to play a festival in their hometown of Toronto, and also recorded and released their fifth studio album in 2009.  Appearing at Maryland Deathfest in 2014, Sacrifice will be performing their first show in the US since 1992.


Cancer are a British death/thrash metal band formed in Ironbridge, Telford, Shropshire in 1988.  After releasing 5 full-length albums from 1988 through 1995, Cancer split up in 1996.  The group attained some level of success before their break-up, and their album Death Shall Rise (1991), is considered to be one of the top death metal albums of all time.   As of 2013, Cancer has reformed with it's original line-up.  They will be making an exclusive US appearance, their first in the since 1993, at Maryland Deathfest 2014.


Tankard is a thrash band from Frankfurt, Germany, established in 1982.  The bands' name speaks highly to their lyrical and musical themes, which mostly revolve around drinking, partying, and hell-raising.  Tankard paved the way for the great German thrash bands that followed later on in the 80's, including Kreator, Destruction, and Sodom, and have had a very influential presence internationally as well.  For nearly 30 years, Tankard has been recording and playing live, and they will be making a rare and exclusive appearance at Maryland Deathfest in 2014.


Sarke is a black metal/thrash metal band from Oslo, Norway.  Thomas "Sarke" Bergli began the project in 2008 as a one-man band, with Sarke himself writing all the music and lyrics.  Prior to the recording of the debut album in late 2008, legendary vocalist Nocturno Culto was brought in to lead the  vocal assault.  After releasing their first album and adding some live musicians to their lineup, Sarke played several successful shows in 2009, and it was decided to make the project a permanent band.

Lair of the Minotaur

Lair of the Minotaur are a doom/sludge/thrash crossover band from Chicago, Illinois.  Their songs lyris are based on some of the bloodies tales in Greek mythology.  They have released four studio albums and have toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe.
