Ground are a powerviolence/hardcore quartet from New Jersey, formed in 2012. Ground brings fast, in your face, powerviolence relentlessness with a sense of humor and a love for memes. (Their most recent split with Bandit is called Grind Hard with a Vengeance.) They’ll come, beat you down, and leave before the crowd knows what happened. Catch them during their first MDF appearance.

Born in Sweden in the early 90s, Deranged are contemporaries with Swedish bands like Grave, Entombed, and Dismember. Deranged’s sound, however, is groovier, faster, more technical-they would be at home playing with bands like Cannibal Corpse and Gorgasm. The cover of their single “…the Confessions Continued” was banned in Germany for being too violent. After several line-up changes and a brief hiatus, Deranged is back and ready to kill.

This is their first MDF appearance.

Yacøpsæ are a German grind/powerviolence band founded in 1990, born out of a punk/squat community and named after a local singer (Jakobs). Although Yacøpsæ existed as a duo for their first six years, the addition of a bassist in 1996 cemented their line-up, which has remained unchanged since (with the exception of a few session musicians). Yacøpsæ is known for singing in German, insanely fast and precise blast beats and stop and go breaks.

This is Yacøpsæ’s second MDF performance, their first occurred in 2006.

Dead Church

Three piece grinders Dead Church come from Detroit, Michigan. (If you’re up on your grind history, you’ll recognize MI as the home of Repulsion.) In true grind fashion, Dead Church has never released a full length, but has released four splits and an EP. This trio blends sheer grind energy and powerviolence aggression into short, under-sixty-second assaults.

This is Dead Church’s first MDF appearance.

Sanitys Dawn

Sanity’s Dawn join MDF from Germany, where they formed in 1987. Starting as a goregrind band, Sanity’s Dawn emerged as a more punk/straight-forward grind band starting with their album Chop Copper, in 2001. In their long history, Sanity’s Dawn have released splits with Exhumed and grind staples like Magrudergrind, Yacopse, and Fuck…I’m Dead. This is Sanity’s Dawn’s second MDF appearance, their first in 2006.

Corrupt Leaders

Corrupt Leader is a Canadian grindcore band.

Knelt Rote

Originally a power electronics/noisegrind act for the first two releases, the band assumed a different musical direction on Insignificance, fusing elements of black metal and grindcore.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed

Formed in 1994 in Springfield, Massachusetts, Agoraphobic Nosebleed is one of the most well-known drum-machine grindcore bands and have been highly influential to the genre.  Widely known for their rare live appearances, they played their first full live set at Maryland Deathfest in 2015, and will be returning to the stage to destroy California Deathfest in 2016.
