Black Breath

Black Breath formed in 2005 in Bellingham, Washington, though the group eventually relocated to Seattle.  Their sound is heavily influenced by crossover thrash predecessors such as Entombed and Dismember.  After recording serveral demos and completing some underground tours, they finally released their first EP in 2008.  After appearing on the Maryland Deathfest line up twice in the past several years, they are returning to the west coast for California Deathfest in 2016.


Crucifist are a black/death metal band from Rochester, New York.  Currently on indefinite hiatus. Crucifist had been playing together since 2005, however they didn't release their first album until 2009.  


Krallice is an experimental black metal band formed by New York City musicians Colin Marston, Mick Barr and Lev Weinstein.  Krallice plays a form of progressive black metal somewhat similar in style to that of Weakling and Wolves in the Throne Room. The band's music features dense multi-tracked guitars often performing tremolo picked lines described as fast and precise.[5] It is also described as a throwback to the early days of Burzum, Gorgoroth, and Ulver.


Nazxul is a black metal band from Sydney, Australia.  The band has been active since 1993.  At one time featuring members of other prominent local metal bands including Mortal Sin and Sadistik Exekution, Nazxul has released two albums, an EP and several split releases with other bands.


Portal is an Australian extreme metal band known for its unorthodox fusion of death metal with black metal. The band's hybrid musical style is characterized by heavily distorted guitar riffs, down-tuned rhythms, and vocals ranging from "menacing, echoing" sound effects to guttural grunts.  Lead guitarist Horror Illogium has described Portal's intent as "to capture a cinematic horror scope".  The band members keep their identities obscured and use stage names.


Taake is a black metal band from Bergen, Norway, formed in 1993.  The band released two demos under the name "Thule", but changed their name to Taake in 1995, which is the Norwegian word for "fog".   Their music is consistent with traditional Norwegian black metal, and their 2005 release, Hordalands Doedskvad, is considered one of the best Norwegian black metal albums of the new millenium.  Taake has met with some criticism because of some live performances and controversial song lyrics.


Melechesh is an Assyrian black metal band that originated in Jerusalem.  The band’s goal was to create a type of black metal incorporating extensive Middle Eastern influences mainly based on Assyrian (Mesopotamian) and occult themes (both musically and lyrically); the band invented the title "Assyrian metal" to best describe their type of metal.  


Necrophobic is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1989 by drummer Joakim Sterner and guitarist David Parland. It is believed that the band named themselves after a Slayer song from the 1986 seminal album Reign in Blood.


Watain are a Swedish black metal band from Uppsala, formed in 1998. The band's name is taken from a recording by the American black metal group Von.  


Witchaven is a black/thrash metal band from San Bernandino, California.  They originally formed in 2005 as a band called Witching Hour.  Their sound is a cross of black metal and thrash metal with elements of crust punk.
