Vulcano is an extreme metal band from Santos, São Paulo, Brazil. Founded in 1981, it is one of the first Brazilian heavy metal bands of note.


Einherjer is a Viking metal band from Haugesund, Norway, founded in 1993. Some of the band's albums are heavily folk influenced, while others have a more traditional black metal sound. Their lyrics retell Norse legends, and each of their albums has its own theme.


Demoncy is an American black metal band formed in 1989 by guitarist Ixithra.  Demoncy are among those bands such as Absu, Black Witchery, and Judas Iscariot generally credited in the early 90s with establishing the minimalist USBM style.

Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult

Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult is a German-Polish black metal band from Dormagen.  They are considered to be a traditional Black metal band.


Bulldozer is an extreme metal band from Milan, Italy, that was active from 1980 until 1990. They had reunited as of 2008.


Pseudogod are a black metal band from Perm, Russia.

The Ruins of Beverast

The Ruins of Beverast is a German black metal project from Aachen, Germany created by ex-Nagelfar drummer Alexander von Meilenwald in 2003.  "Beverast" is von Meilenwald's own derivation of the word "Bifröst" influenced by the old Norse term for the bridge between Midgard and Asgard.  The Ruins of Beverast have taken put their own unique twist on traditional elements of black metal by blending them with hypnotic/atmospheric components such as choral singing.  Their fourth full-length album was released in 2013, and they will be making their first Maryland Deathfest appearance in 2014.
