Taake

Taake is a black metal band from Bergen, Norway, formed in 1993.  The band released two demos under the name "Thule", but changed their name to Taake in 1995, which is the Norwegian word for "fog".   Their music is consistent with traditional Norwegian black metal, and their 2005 release, Hordalands Doedskvad, is considered one of the best Norwegian black metal albums of the new millenium.  Taake has met with some criticism because of some live performances and controversial song lyrics.  Despite the bad press, front man Hoest maintains an apolitical stance, and says that they will continue to express themselves through their music.  For the bands' 20th anniversary in 2013, they released a 20 song collection of rarities containing new songs, some previously unreleased material, and songs previously only available on vinyl.  

Maryland Deathfest 2014 will mark Taake's first ever appearance on U.S. soil.
