Schirenc Plays Pungent Stench

Originally known by the name Pungent Stench, Schirenc  formed as a death metal band in Vienna, Austria in 1988.   Though the group is mainly catagorized as death metal, their music contains influences from outside the world of metal, such as blues and rock.  Their dark and sexually oriented lyrics are often humorous, and the groups lyrical themes match their twisted and gruesome artwork to perfection.  The combination of a unique musical and artistic vision helped the band develop a cult following in the death metal scene, and they enjoyed much success until splitting up in 2007.  Following a six-year hiatus, the group reformed in 2013, and will be making their second appearance at Maryland Deathfest in 2014, playing material from their first EP and first three albums.
