Nocturnus AD

Nocturnus AD are a death metal band from Tampa, Florida.  Originally called Nocturnus, the band formed in 1987.  They are one of the first death metal acts to incorporate keyboards and other sound effects into their music.  They also differed from their death metal peers by incorporating science-fiction type themes into their lyrics.  Their 1990 release, The Key, is considered one of the greatest death metal albums of its' time, and was highly influential for the many death metal acts that followed.  The group split up in 2002, but reformed as After Death (due to legal complications with the name Nocturnus) in 2008 and played several shows.  They will be reuniting as Nocturnus AD for Maryland Deathfest in 2014, and will playing The Key in it's entirety.
